Reds starter Kyle Harris struggled to hit the strike zone early in the game but was able to work out of his jams to keep the Whitecaps scoreless until the fourth inning. The Reds offence exploded in the third inning scoring seven runs against their opponents. Two-run doubles from both Kyle Harris and Cody Jennings lead the offensive assault against Whitecaps pitcher Sonu Lall. The Whitecaps responded with four runs during the fourth and fifth innings including a three run home run to right field from Christian Simone that cut the Reds’ lead in half. The Reds swung the momentum back onto their side by adding two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning to increase their lead to 9-4. The Whitecaps fell short of a comeback despite adding two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Their boundless efforts to win brought the game to a tense and dramatic finish. The Reds were able to hold off their opponents valiant rally efforts with good pitching and well-executed defense. Reds starting pitcher Kyle Harris earned his first win of the tournament bringing his record to 1-0. Whitecaps starter Sonu Lall was handed the loss making his record 0-1. The win brings the Reds record to 1-1 in the tournament. The host team Whitecaps are also at 1-1. The Reds next match is against the Orleans Red Sox while the Whitecaps take on Glace Bay.

Oakville, ON – The Community Park Reds from Edmonton, Alberta defeated the host team Oakville Whitecaps 9-6 in their second game of the 2008 Canadian Senior Little League Championship on Saturday night.
